{"id":37673,"date":"2003-08-04T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2003-08-04T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/reviews\/the-headless-horseman-is-a-preacher\/"},"modified":"2003-08-04T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2003-08-04T00:00:00","slug":"the-headless-horseman-is-a-preacher","status":"publish","type":"review","link":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/reviews\/the-headless-horseman-is-a-preacher\/","title":{"rendered":"The Headless Horseman Is A Preacher"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This idiosyncratic band from Bloomington, Indiana (not to be<br \/>\nconfused with Ruben Garza&#8217;s sound effects collaboration of the same<br \/>\nname) have quite a bit going for them, as the Recordhead (Guided By<br \/>\nVoices, Tobin Sprout) label have taken notice, and are releasing<br \/>\ntheir next EP.<\/p>\n<p>Called &#8220;rot-rock-pop&#8221; by their current label, I&#8217;m having a<br \/>\ndifficult time classifying these eighteen songs. &#8220;The Headless<br \/>\nHorseman&#8221; just got reissued in France, so perhaps they can come up<br \/>\nwith a nickname for it.<br \/>\n<i>Murky Melodies<\/i> was as close as I came.<\/p>\n<p>This is a record that will creep up on you, with whole choruses<br \/>\nand chord progressions getting trapped in your subconscious, only<br \/>\nto fall out without warning while you&#8217;re having dinner with your<br \/>\nparents, and attempting to be normal (humming &#8220;The Fight Club Song&#8221;<br \/>\nriff for no reason makes them think I&#8217;m strange).<\/p>\n<p>There was some definite rewind action here: &#8220;Overtime,&#8221; the<br \/>\nweird, Bowie-esque &#8220;When In Rome,&#8221; &#8220;The Seed,&#8221; and &#8220;Theories of<br \/>\nDivision.&#8221; Lucky thing it&#8217;s a compact disc, or else I&#8217;d need<br \/>\nanother copy soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":35,"featured_media":26439,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"artist":[6889],"rating":[5617],"class_list":["post-37673","review","type-review","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","artist-brando","rating-rating-b-plus"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/review\/37673","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/review"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/review"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/35"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=37673"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/review\/37673\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/26439"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=37673"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"artist","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/artist?post=37673"},{"taxonomy":"rating","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/rating?post=37673"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
