Today it seems like bands release greatest hits albums when they
\ndon’t feel like producing a new album or are looking for a quick
\nway out of a record deal. CCR’s compilation is different in many
\nways. Properly titled
\nChronicle<\/i>, this album is a musical journey thru the history
\nof America’s rock & roll band.<\/p>\n
Fronted by powerful vocals by John Fogerty, CCR skyrocketed to
\nthe top of America’s charts. Backed by his brother Tom, with help
\nfrom Stu Cook on Bass and Doug Clifford on drums, CCR produced hit
\nsong after hit song. Or should I say…John Fogerty produced hit
\nsong after hit song. It is well known that John was a strong if not
\ndomineering member of CCR. John wrote and produced almost all of
\nCCR’s music. It was this control that launched CCR. Only when his
\nfellow band members complained did John release control and the
\nband spiraled…no….nosedived in to the ground and then disbanded
\nin 1972.<\/p>\n
As for the music, this album rocks! There is not a bad song on
\nthe album. With timeless classics like “Bad Moon Rising” and
\n“Travelin’ Band” to “Fortunate Son” and “Up Around The Bend,” CCR
\nkeeps you going for the full 20 song set. One of my personal
\nfavorites is a less heard track called “Sweet Hitch-Hiker”.<\/p>\n
You can still see some of the original members of CCR today. Stu
\nCook and Doug Clifford are out on tour promoting Credence
\nClearwater Revisited. But, without the vocals of John
\nFogerty….what’s the point? If you want to hear CCR songs, see if
\nyou can catch John Fogerty on tour. He still performs CCR songs and
\nstill rocks.<\/p>\n
This album is a must own for any serious rock & roll
\ncollector. The rock and country roots found in CCRs music is pumped
\nfull of Americana and it rules. Nothing bad can ever be said about
