There’s nothing like a follow-up to a smash hit debut
\nto make or break an up-and-coming band. For every success story,
\nthere’s another band that only rehashed the same formulas or whose
\ntime in the spotlight passed before ever achieving more than
\none-hit-wonder status.<\/p>\n

Luckily for Glasgow rockers Franz Ferdinand, who
\nstrode into the mainstream with the success of their 2004
\nself-titled album, the story went the right way. Slyly sidestepping
\nthe dreaded sophomore slump, You Could Have It So Much
\nBetter<\/i> opens with “The Fallen,” where the upbeat, politically
\ncharged lyrics scream single potential. The album continues along
\nin that vein for the next few tracks, namely the crunchy,
\nrepetitive “Do You Want To,” which will most definitely get itself
\nstuck in your head beyond removal.<\/p>\n

Among the hype surrounding this release, Franz
\nFerdinand returned with a record that manages to incorporate their
\nsignature stick-in-your-head blend of rock with more lazily paced,
\nalmost folk-sounding tracks like “Eleanor Put Your Boots On” and
\n“Fade Together” that prove they’re more than just the typical
\none-trick pony type of group.<\/p>\n

Of course, if you’re searching for new revivals of
\nyour now overplayed favorites from Franz Ferdinand, look no further
\nthan tracks like “Walk Away,” which is reminiscent of the upbeat
\nchoruses of Franz Ferdinand’s “Jaqueline,” or the unsurprisingly
\nenergetic “This Boy.”<\/p>\n

Franz Ferdinand do what they do best, creating
\nimpeccably radio-friendly tracks while retaining their signature
\ninsouciant approach. And sure, they may not be exactly the most
\noriginal of acts to emerge in recent years, but lead singer and
\nguitarist Alexander Kaprano’s distinctive delivery coupled with
\nmemorable spurts of guitar licks prove to be a foolproof formula
\nfor success.<\/p>\n
