{"id":41597,"date":"2009-07-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2009-07-27T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/reviews\/dehumanizer\/"},"modified":"2009-07-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2009-07-27T00:00:00","slug":"dehumanizer","status":"publish","type":"review","link":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/reviews\/dehumanizer\/","title":{"rendered":"Dehumanizer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal\">Ronnie James Dio was the first singer to replace Ozzy Osbourne as lead vocalist for Britsh heavy metal icons Black Sabbath.\u00a0 He initially recorded two albums with the band in 1980 and 1981.\u00a0 Dio left the band in 1982, but came back ten years later to record his third album with the band, <i>Dehumanizer<\/i>.\u00a0 The Dehumanizer lineup lacked original drummer Bill Ward, but founding members\u00a0Geezer Butler (bass) and Tony Iommi (guitars) were on board, along with Vinny Appice on drums.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal\">The basic building blocks of heavy metal are clearly heard throughout this album.\u00a0 By the early &#8217;90s, though, hair bands had been popular for a most of a decade, and that influence is felt in the songs on this disc.\u00a0 Still, many of the tracks show an evolution toward a harder heavy metal style, feeling the influence of such bands as Metallica and Megadeth, who were just starting out at the time.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal\">The album starts out with \u201cComputer God,\u201d a cut that has a more \u201980s-esque hair band sound than any other song on the album.\u00a0 This track is like Bon Jovi meeting heavy metal in the middle, sort of like the later decades of Kiss.\u00a0 \u201cAfter All (The Dead)\u201d has a more mysterious, updated heavy metal sound, reminiscent of \u201cWar Pigs\u201d from Black Sabbath\u2019s 1970 album <i>Paranoid<\/i>, with Osbourne on vocals.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal\">The Metallica\/Megadeth influence is heard in the songs \u201cTV Crimes\u201d (which is definitely more in the speed metal category), \u201cLetters From Earth,\u201d \u201cTime Machine\u201d (the second version of which is from \u00a0is <i>Wayne\u2019s World<\/i>) and \u201cMaster Of Insanity.\u201d \u00a0\u201cSins Of The Father\u201d is in particular very good, while \u201cBuried Alive\u201d is louder but maybe not better.\u00a0 \u201cToo Late\u201d is a bit mellower but is another good song, and \u201cI\u201d has a cool start before kicking into another memorable track.<o:p><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"line-height: normal\">For the average metal fan, <i>Dehumanizer<\/i> definitely has some solid tunes.\u00a0 Most still say that Ozzy made Black Sabbath, but the band moved on with other singers, some better than others.\u00a0 By the mid-80s, guitarist Tony Iommi was for a time the only original member in the band\u2019s lineup.\u00a0Of the post-Ozzy albums, some are better than others, but overall, <i>Dehumanizer <\/i>is a solid release.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":29972,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"artist":[5638],"rating":[5613],"class_list":["post-41597","review","type-review","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","artist-black-sabbath","rating-rating-a-minus"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/review\/41597","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/review"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/review"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/11"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=41597"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/review\/41597\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/29972"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=41597"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"artist","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/artist?post=41597"},{"taxonomy":"rating","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/rating?post=41597"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
