Led by Chuck Cleaver (ex-Ass Ponys) and Lisa Walker, the band has released their eagerly anticipated new disc and boy, is it something. It\u2019s hard to find an American rock band that\u2019s out now with lyrics and melodies as deep as Wussy\u2019s. They are just one of these bands that only come along once in a blue moon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">Lisa Walker\u2019s voice is one of the best qualities of the band, particularly on the deep and dense \u201cDropping Houses,\u201d which sounds like Wussy of old. The almost eerie \u201cDonny\u2019s Death Scene\u201d is another great track; its storytelling vibe reminds me of Ass Ponys circa 1994 \u2013 and that\u2019s a fantastic thing. The only negative thing about the record is the production, which sounds incredibly dense (at least on this promo CD) and almost punishes the listener if they\u2019re listening too loud.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\u201cHello, I\u2019m A Ghost\u201d is one of Chuck Cleaver\u2019s showcases on the record. Very poppy and rife with a lot of guitars, it\u2019s one of the clearest tracks here and one of the most memorable of the year so far. Other tracks like \u201cSidewalk Sale\u201d and \u201cHand Of God\u201d are just decent but don\u2019t really do all that much for me. But hey, every song can\u2019t be a winner.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\u201cBetter Days\u201d comes across as a bittersweet, melancholy love song, and that\u2019s one of the things that really make Wussy shine.
