Now, I know I might come across as a cranky old man, but I don\u2019t care. I\u2019m 31 and I am completely set in my ways when it comes to how I like pop music. The music of today is mostly crap and doesn\u2019t do much for anyone who isn\u2019t under the age of 19 and can\u2019t figure out what good music really is. That being said, I don\u2019t really know what I\u2019m doing with this record, but here I am. <\/p>\n
Taylor Swift\u2019s \u201cReady for It\u201d is as far away from a classic Swift song as humanly possible. It\u2019s basically like she is trying anything to see if it\u2019s as popular as \u201cBad Blood\u201d or \u201cI Knew You Were Trouble.\u201d This song definitely isn\u2019t it and is one of the more forgettable tracks in her repertoire. Meanwhile, pop music from artists like Demi Lovato is just crap in this writer\u2019s opinion, meant to be sold to teenagers and no one else. There\u2019s a good chance that people won\u2019t remember half these songs over five years from now. They\u2019re just garbage. \u201cHavana\u201d by Camila Cabello is one of the halfway decent tracks here, reminding me of Leona Lewis. But one track out of 22 isn\u2019t enough to make this even a decent album<\/p>\n
\u201cBest Friend\u201d by Sofi Tukker is pure garbage, and G-Eazy\u2019s \u201cNo Limit\u201d is no better. This is mostly junk that\u2019s purely disposable and does nothing for the advancement of hip-hop at all. Most of these \u2018rappers\u2019 like Khalid and Post Malone have no flow at all. The music is so slow, it\u2019s destined to put you in a Prozac coma.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s like torture on the ears to hear some of this garbage. Basically the only artists that are actually making real music on this disc are Niall Horan and Pink. They\u2019re actually trying to not cover the songs in dance beats and swath it in keyboards and other stuff that feels completely necessary to make a good song these days.<\/p>\n
This release is a poor, pitiful sorry excuse for what passes as music these days. There are six Now What\u2019s Next tracks tacked onto the end to introduce new artists and not one of these songs are worth a damn, nor do they deserve to be remembered at all. It\u2019s just more disposable garbage covered in keyboards and lyrics that could pass for entries from a teenager\u2019s journal. The fact that it takes more than two people to write most of these songs is completely horrific and doesn\u2019t leave much hope for the future of pop music. <\/p>\n
