It really gets under your skin, and you just want to listen to it over and over again. Days Between Stations is a progressive duo made up of Oscar Fuentes Bills and Sepand Samzadeh. There are more players involved on a guest basis, but it’s those two who create the initial magic. At first glance you hear sounds reminiscent of Gabriel-era Genesis, or Gentle Giant, but with each listen you realize that Days Between Stations stands strongly on their own.

The songs are well crafted, and the duo feels fine when presenting music in a long expanded form. The opening track “Spark” is a true epic with various moods and changes as you navigate the song. The track lasts for nearly 17 minutes, and you simply don’t want it to end. There are really great transitions between songs too. “Another Day” has a really amazing buildup, but in reality it’s “Witness The End Of The World,” which provides a springboard for this very track.

The initial feel of the album makes you think Days Between Stations is a progressive band, but it’s actually more than that. There are many facets that feel like prog, which would make applying the label easy, but it’s those other elements that give this band the originality. Call it what you want, just flow with the music and enjoy.

The album artwork is intriguing as well. It’s a take on Gulliver’s Travels with both band members and icons of our times all drawn in a classic format, so at first you won’t even notice the little details. It is definitely a very clever idea.

I absolutely love the pace of this album. At times you feel like you’re suspended in space with these songs. They have a way of trapping you inside them. It’s a rewarding listen full of great melodies, harmonies, and excellent musicianship.

[9191
5646
post-46009","review","type-review","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","artist-days-between-stations","rating-rating-a
["GET
