{"id":47250,"date":"2025-10-24T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-10-24T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/reviews\/pleasure\/"},"modified":"2025-10-24T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-10-24T00:00:00","slug":"pleasure","status":"publish","type":"review","link":"https:\/\/dailyvault.adishjain.in\/index.php\/reviews\/pleasure\/","title":{"rendered":"Pleasure"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>The duo of singer-songwriter Andy Platts and multi-instrumentalist Shawn Lee, as Young Gun Silver Fox they&#8217;ve been at it for well over a decade now, and this 5th album has their yacht-rock ways not lacking any sunny or breezy moments.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u201cStevie &#038; Sly\u201d opens and wastes no time making an impression thanks to the funky mood, bouncy bass lines and Platts&#8217; smooth pipes that tip their hat to the &#8217;70s. \u201cBorn To Dream\u201d then showcases Platts&#8217; falsetto alongside the crisp drumming and melodic soft-rock, though it&#8217;s the elegant grooves and mature keys that make \u201cLate Night Last Train\u201d the best track on side A.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Rounding out the first half is \u201cBurning Daylight\u201d and \u201cHolding Back The Fire\u201d. The former is a soulful moment that also embraces retro-pop, and the latter allows for Platts&#8217; incredible range to soar amid the frisky and harmonic, nostalgic flavor.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The second half leads with the dense drums and rhythmic \u201cJust For Pleasure\u201d, and \u201cPut Up Your Dukes\u201d follows with an infectious energy that seems like it should soundtrack the dance floor in a much earlier decade.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>Near to the end, the intimate, piano fueled \u201cThe Greatest Loser\u201d finds itself in sing-along territory, but it&#8217;s the West Coast sensibilities and R&#038;B spirited \u201cStealing Time\u201d that makes the back half worth a spin. \u201cOne Horse Race\u201d then exits the listen with a dreamy ambience of warmth.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>The pair cite influences like James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and Steely Dan, and their music certainly draws parallels to the Doobie Brothers or Earth, Wind &#038; Fire.
