tie me down or tie me up. I don’t care. I’ll do whatever he wants.
He is sex, sex, sex personified. Sigh…
Oh yeah, and he also sings.
Born in Puerto Rico, Chayanne guides his life by cultivating the
happiness of his family and caring for himself. And even though the
charismatic singer only croons in Spanish, listeners will
appreciate the vitality and fiery nature of his music.
Songs such as “Soy Como Un Nino” (“Through The Eyes Of A Child”)
are innocent-sounding but belied by the man’s soft sensual voice.
“Otra Vez” (“Another Time”) is a song for rubbing up against
someone and arousing those fires of desire, with lusty and romantic
guitar work by Hal Batt and Donato and lyrics such as “Amor amor me
estoy, quemando, otra vez,” which loosely translated means, “love
love I’m burning again.” Yep, me too, honey.
“Refugio De Amor” is a duet with Vanessa Williams and was
highlighted in the movie “Dance With Me.” Seductive and sweet, this
is a beautiful love song, and both singers perform well together,
with a richness to Williams’ voice that complements the passion of
Chayanne’s.
High-energy numbers like “Nadie Como Tu” and “Salome” are dance
tunes, flowing easily and flawlessly into delicious pieces such as
“Pienso En Ti” (“I Think About You”), and what girl wouldn’t want
to hear that crooning from a man? This sweet ballad is unblemished
and performed with no faltering. If you weren’t in love before you
hear this song, you will be afterward. He gives it all to you but
leaves you hungering for more.
Chayanne started with the group Los Chicos but stepped away to
pursue his personal career. It has paid off — I know I’d follow
Chayanne in any direction he chose…or at least back to the
music store to buy another of his albums.
